Our Mission

The Prunedale Senior Center is committed to providing a high level of service to enhance the quality of life of our senior citizens of North Monterey County. The mission is supported by our long term goals, which are to improve nutrition, increase social activities through classes, field trips, games, dancing, and guest speakers chosen to inform and protect their interests.

History

In 1986, the Senior citizens of North Monterey County received hot meals and services provided by the combined efforts of the Alliance on Aging and the Prunedale American Legion Post 593. In 1994, however, the Alliance on Aging sadly announced they could no longer support the Center. In response, the Prunedale community, along with a few dedicated and resourceful members, set about to create the Prunedale Senior Center Inc. a non-profit organization. Since their launch in September 1994, the Prunedale Senior Center has successfully provided support and resources to enrich the lives of our Seniors. Most recently, the center is supported by the Monterey County Social Services Department Area Agency on Aging, as well as the Arts Council for Monterey County, and the North County Recreation and Parks District, Grey Bears of Santa Cruz County and the Monterey County Food Bank. And the Alliance on Aging is now one of our main resources. We are also currently supported by our District 2 Supervisor Glenn Church.
